Frequently Asked Questions

Please do call us with any queries not mentioned here.  Most of your questions should be answered when you receive the business terms and conditions and your dog & owner registration form.

Do you only take sighthounds?

No. Whilst our purpose is to provide home boarding for sighthounds, if you have a sighthound with another breed they of course are very welcome too.  If you need home boarding for any dog it is worth calling me to see if I have space.

My dog is nervous of traffic & loud noises?

We have experience with similar issues so are alert to the anxiety it can create in hounds. We are very rural, detached with a decent garden space; it's just a hamlet and we are situated on a lane which is a no through road. Visitors comment on the peace and quiet here.

Must my dog be vaccinated?

Yes.  To protect your dog, other clients' dogs and my own greyhound, only dogs with a full and valid vaccination set will be permitted to stay. You will need to show the vaccination record when you come for the trial overnight stay. It is also a condition of the License.

Dogs must also be wormed and flea/tick treated please.

Where are you based?

We are based in rural Lincolnshire in the Wolds, which is between Lincoln and the east coast resort of Skegness. Address and details of how to find us are provided when booking in for the trial stay.

Must we do a trial overnight stay?

Yes. For dogs hoping to come and stay with us we require a one night trial stay well in advance of the planned holiday date. This is a License requirement, but it makes a whole lot of sense too. The trial stay allows us and the dogs all to meet to make sure we are compatible.  It tests whether your dog(s) is going to be settled and happy when staying here, and means they are already a little familiar when they arrive for their hols.

Are you licensed?

Yes. Our local authority East Lindsey District Council has granted us a license. License ref AWL0177.  This means we comply with all the necessary DEFRA guidelines on aspects like animal welfare, safety, behavioural understanding, vetinary arrangements, enrichment for your dog, cleanliness, caring for juvenile dogs, competency and emergency plans.

What if there is a medical emergency?

If anything should happen that requires urgent vetinary treatment that is beyond First Aid, we have pre-agreed plans in place with our local (3 miles away) vet and an emergency out of hours vet (12 miles away).

What kind of things do you supply?

We provide dog beds (including raised off the floor style), feeding/water bowls, some treats and lots of love. If your dog has a favourite bed, please clean it and bring it with you so that he/she settles in better.

You need to bring - lead/harness, sufficient food, your preferred treats, coat, and in case of emergencies a muzzle if you have one that fits.  Don't forget your dog's medicines and or dietary supplements.
